ADALAH JUSTICE PROJECT
“AJP welcomes the many hundreds of artists who have added their names - and cultural power - to the global #MusiciansForPalestine letter – "speaking together to demand justice, dignity, and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people and all who are fighting colonial dispossession and violence across the planet." Artists around the world are speaking out louder than ever in defense of Palestinian rights... BDS is becoming the new baseline, and collective liberation is the goal.”
Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign
"We in the Ireland Palestine-Solidarity Campaign welcome the global expression of solidarity with the Palestinian people as expressed by Musicians for Palestine. The appeal by hundreds of musicians globally to stand with Palestinian human rights and to refuse to collaborate with cultural institutions complicit with or sponsored by Israel's regime is an important step in the fight against apartheid and oppression. Here in Ireland, more than 1,400 musicians, artists and cultural workers have already taken a principled stand for justice in Palestine, and today we salute this important gesture of solidarity with Palestine by musicians on a global scale. –– Aisling Micklethwaite, Chairperson, Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign."
"Culture and music are important means for understanding the Palestinian people’s aspirations for freedom and dignity. A song about justice, a poem about oppression, a painting about the love of the land or a film about the sorrows of occupation have the ability to reach millions and move them to act. I welcome this collective expression of support for human rights in Palestine by musicians around the world, knowing that their voices will be heard by those who believe that a better world is possible.” – Michael Lynk, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law Western University, Canada. Former United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967
BDS | South Africa
"The South African BDS Coalition welcomes the global expression of solidarity from hundreds of musicians who stand with the Palestinian freedom struggle as part of #MusiciansForPalestine. We condemn Israel's use of arts and culture as propaganda to 'artwash' its racism, settler colonial ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people and its crime against humanity of apartheid. We applaud the growing list of musicians that take a stand and refuse to play in apartheid Israel, just as so many refused to play in apartheid South Africa. Let us strengthen the cultural boycott together! Amandla!"
Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI)
"Palestinians thank the hundreds of musicians endorsing our peaceful call to boycott apartheid Israel’s complicit cultural sector.
Israeli music venues, festivals and concert promoters are deeply involved in artwashing Israel’s decades-long regime of military occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid against Indigenous Palestinians.
This summer alone, at least four artists have canceled shows in apartheid Israel. They include Big Thief, badbadnotgood and La Femme, who all canceled concerts in apartheid Tel Aviv at Barby, which celebrates Israeli forces massacring Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Principled artists once boycotted South Africa’s apartheid regime, refusing to play Sun City. #MusiciansForPalestine carry the torch for an inspiring new generation that is enacting meaningful international solidarity with global struggles for justice and dignity."
"It is most gratifying to learn that 700 musicians are expressing their collective solidarity for Palestinian human rights on this occasion. #MusiciansForPalestine exemplifies the very significant role that musicians and artists can play in projecting the urgency of supporting liberation struggles throughout the world."
“PM Press welcomes the global expression of solidarity with the Palestnian people through #MusiciansForPalestine and asserts our support for the Palestinian struggle for freedom.”
Academics for Palestine, Concordia University
"Academics for Palestine at Concordia University welcomes the expression of solidarity for Palestinian human rights by hundreds of musicians around the world, as #MusiciansForPalestine. It is critically important that artists play a vibrant role in expressing solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for freedom and refuse to participate in events linked to culturally complicit institutions that receive Israeli state funding and support. Artists have always played a key role in liberation struggles globally and that is certainly the case in the global expression of solidarity by musicians who are backing the Palestinian freedom struggle today."
Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival
"Suoni per il Popolo festival welcomes the news that hundreds of musicians from around the world are joining together as #MusiciansForPalestine to stand with the Palestinian people. Cultural workers and particularly musicians have always played an important role in voicing, participating and joining movements for liberation, this is the case today, as many artists around the world participate in the global Palestine solidarity movement. Suoni festival stands with #MusiciansForPalestine."
“debaser welcomes the generous expression of solidarity for Palestinian human rights today along with the hundreds of musicians globally who are expressing their support as #MusiciansForPalestine. Cultural workers and musicians speak to the times and this moment in Palestine is extremely urgent, Palestinian people are denied their basic fundamental rights and according to Amnesty International live under a system of apartheid on the part of the Israeli government. Artists can play a role in articulating the urgency of struggles for justice, today debaser is part of this moment and we stand with #MusiciansForPalestine.”
“Alternatives exprime sa solidarité avec l’initiative des Musiciens pour la Palestine et se réjouit devant la mobilisation de centaines de musiciens du monde. Il s'agit d'un moment décisif dans le soutien du secteur des arts et de la culture pour les droits et la lutte de libération des Palestiniens et des Palestiniennes. #MusiciansForPalestine se situe désormais au carrefour des solidarités avec le peuple palestinien.”
“Alternatives extends its solidarity to the #Musicians for Palestine project and welcomes the news that hundreds of musicians from around the world have joined it by issuing a statement in its support. This marks an important shift in the world of arts toward a vocal articulation of solidarity by artists in support of the Palestinian human rights and liberation struggle. Alternatives salutes #MusiciansForPalestine as an important node in the global solidarity movement with the Palestinian people.”
"There are political codes that sustain the injustices of our world. One of those codes is the silence within mainstream political classes around the systemic injustice that the Palestinian people are facing under Israeli state military occupation. Today I am heartened to see that hundreds of musicians from around the world of note are joining together to jointly refuse silence and to stand proudly together as #MusiciansForPalestine.
Palestine remains one of the great injustices of our time. Silence is not a solution. It is critical that artists around the world speak loudly together in defense of Palestinian human rights today. I applaud the hundreds of musicians who are joining together today as #MusiciansForPalestine.
It is brilliant that musicians are coming together to show their support for the Palestinians, to demand that their oppression should end, and that the world should recognise their basic human rights - to live in peace, security and freedom in their own land. This is another step in the long march to end this terrible injustice.
Boycott from Within (BfW)
We are hundreds of citizens of Israel active against Israel's decades-long policies of colonialism, occupation, and apartheid. We wholly support the worldwide Palestinian-led boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement (BDS), and are heartened by the addition of 700 signatories to #MusiciansForPalestine pledging to refuse to perform at Israel's complicit cultural institutions. Israel openly exploits artists and their cultural output to whitewash its decades-long, daily, and systematic war crimes, apartheid regime, and ethnic cleansing against the indigenous Palestinian people. There is no response more appropriate to military violence and colonialism than to render it grotesque, unacceptable, and abnormal and refuse to participate. We applaud all musicians committing themselves to solidarity. Each and every one of you tips the scales towards justice.
Boicot, desinversión y sanciones a Israel. (BDS Chile)
