#MusiciansForPalestine podcast launches
On Friday, September 10th, #MusiciansForPalestine will launch the inaugural episode of a podcast series that explores musicians’ solidarity with Palestine.
In May, hundreds of musicians around the world came together to support the #MusiciansForPalestine letter. The letter expresses commitment to speaking out against systemic human rights abuses against the Palestinian people by the Israeli government. As a part of this commitment to speak, this podcast series creates space for signatories to voice reflections of solidarity.
The Musicians for Palestine letter demands justice, dignity and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people, and calls on artists to refuse to perform at cultural institutions complicit with Israeli apartheid. As both an international, and internationalist project, the podcast aims to build connections between struggles for freedom and liberation around the world, a public dialogue with artists who signed the Musicians for Palestine letter.
The first episode features Msaki, a composer and singer-songwriter from East London, South Africa. In it she asks: "How do we hold on to compassion?" – a crucial question which is as important in Palestine as it is in South Africa.
